Community Seminar Explores Thoughts on COVID-19
Healthcare Professionals Share Thoughts on COVID-19
At the Upper School Community Seminar on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, students connected with a panel of healthcare professionals over video conference. Three panelists (including one KLS parent) explored the seminar topic, "Thoughts on COVID-19 and Pandemics, Past and Present," by sharing how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting different aspects of the healthcare industry.
Middle School Humanities Specialist Renee Scherer also shared documents and images from the 1918 flu pandemic, illustrating the ways society responded to a pandemic in the past. After sharing each of their perspectives and helpful tips for self-care during a pandemic, panelists answered questions submitted by students about COVID-19. Students learned more about the day-to-day challenges of being a healthcare professional during a pandemic, how COVID-19 testing works, and how the healthcare industry is preparing for the aftermath of COVID-19.
