Outdoor Education

Khan Lab School’s Outdoor Education program at the Palo Alto Campus is a staple within our community. The Outdoor Education program strives to educate our students about the world around them. From hiking to working in farms to exploring tidepools, our students learn outside of the bounds of traditional classrooms and at their pace.

As the activity and lesson plan go hand in hand, students are guided to make the most of the excursions. Following Kolb’s four step learning process—concrete learning, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation—the students are guided through what they might expect on these excursions, all while learning more about the varied environments they will encounter.
