KLS Community Attends Distinguished Lecture in Social Justice, Introduced by KLS Faculty Dr. Greason

2021 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Distinguished Lecture in Social Justice

This week, the KLS community was invited to attend Monmouth University's virtual2021 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Distinguished Lecture in Social Justice featuring Dr. Ibram X. Kendi. Introduced by KLS visiting faculty member, Dr. Walter D. Greason, and in conversation with Dr. Hettie V. Williams, professor of African-American History at Monmouth University, Dr. Kendi explored the importance of anti-racist efforts, civic engagement, and justice in education and the world today. KLS students in our U.S. History course this Term will be studying Dr. Kendi's research in class.

Presented by the Monmouth University President's Advisory Council on Diversity and Inclusion, the discussionaddressed anti-racism on systemic and institutional levels, including college admissions, educational policy development, and the recent insurrection at the United States Capitol Building.
