Online education company's experimental private school brings back the one room schoolhouse – with a twist.
We are having a carnival at KLS this week. This carnival is based on endangered species that we have learned about in the past. We chose this endangered animal topic by votes, and most of the students entered their vote as endangered species, so we stuck with that topic and decided to have a carnival for the term project.

8:50 a.m. I quickly walked into school, pushed my lunch box into my cubby, and laid my backpack on the floor. “C’mon!” my friend called. “We’re editing the newspaper!” I slid my Chromebook out of its slot and joined the rest of my classmates on the rug. Most people were learning a language on Duolingo, but two of my friends and I were working hard on putting together the first issue of “KLS Weekly,” the school newspaper.

We had our first Intersession last week! While the lead teachers took time to look back and look forward, the students, Dianne, Farida, and Chi-Ray spent time with our friends from Tinkering School building go-karts. As Sean Murray from Tinkering School put it, the students "took a week to build some very big things and tackle thorny problems."
