Following guidance from Santa Clara County to practice social distancing in response to COVID-19, Khan Lab School transitioned to remote learning on March 16, 2020. The health and safety of our community is paramount, and so we decided that the best course of action was to take the mitigating step of transitioning to remote learning and closing campus.

We have maintained our mastery-based, self-paced approach while emphasizing project-based learning. Our remote learning plan includes modifications to instruction methods, student schedules, student engagement, and more to ensure continuity of learning while remaining flexible and nimble in our approach.

Goals of Remote Learning

  • Program continuity
  • Community connection
  • Structured, purposeful time for students
  • Allowing space in the day for family and reflection
