October Accreditation Update

Friday, October 25, 2019

Thank you to all who participated in this week’s accreditation visit with the review team from Cognia (formerly AdvancEd). Our visitors poured through hundreds of pages of documents, spoke with 55 community members, and visited 14 classes across both divisions as part of their review of KLS.

In many accreditation processes, there is a final meeting at the end of the visit where the review team shares with senior administrators whether the school will be recommended for accreditation. Unfortunately, Cognia's process specifically disallows that kind of disclosure, However, our final meeting was positive, and the review team was able to share that KLS is making strong impact as a school in the areas of mission, culture, personalized learning, and student agency, among others!

We should receive Cognia’s final report in one months’ time. If KLS is recommended for accreditation, we will be on the docket of Cognia’s January 2020 board meeting, where the official accreditation vote will take place. We will update the community again when we receive the final report.
