Virtual Fundraiser for KLS

Update from the Gala Committee

Out of an abundance of caution in light of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), it is with heavy hearts that we cancel the 2020 "Heroes" Gala. It is sad to miss such a fun and lively community event, though there are still opportunities to support KLS in the absence of the Gala.

As a community of learners, heroes, and agile thinkers, we want to put our heads together to see how we can help support our community during these tough times and help KLS recoup some of the donations lost without the Gala.

Fundraising Ideas (so far):

  • Partnering with subscription box companies for kids (Kiwi Co., Little Passports, Raddish Kids, etc.) that can provide fun activities as we transition to remote instruction and also bring in donations for KLS.
  • Partnering with subscription box companies for adults (Vinebox, Flaviar, Chocolate of the Month Club, etc.) to pamper our parents during these challenging circumstances.
  • Creating virtual Extended Day engagement opportunities via online experiences, clubs, tutorials, and classes for our community (including students and adults) along with a suggested donation with all proceeds in support of KLS.

If you or anyone you know owns or works for a subscription company, has a virtual class or club they'd like to facilitate, or has another idea for a fun, virtual fundraiser, please email Donna Griffit with more information at donna@dabraham.com.

How you can support KLS right now:

  • Donate a percentage of your online Amazon purchases to KLS. To set this up, make smile.amazon.com your default Amazon shopping option, sign in to your AmazonSmile account, and select "Khan Lab School" as the charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases. The AmazonSmile Foundation will then donate 0.5% of the purchase price from eligible AmazonSmile purchases.

Heroes are defined as being courageous, rising to the occasion when needed, and acting as a team player. Let's band together to make this time a bit easier and support the school community we love.

With gratitude,

The (Former) Gala Committee
