Khan Lab School Admissions Timeline Step-by-Step Guide​

To RSVP for an event or begin your application, you will need to visit Ravenna and create an account. Please see below for a step-by-step guide to the KLS application process.

Statement of Intent & Nondiscriminatory Policy: Our school strives to create a demographically diverse community so that students can learn from peers with a variety of backgrounds and become better prepared for our increasingly global world. We use applications, tours, interviews, and Shadow Days to determine if a family is a good fit for our rapidly evolving education model. Khan Lab School admits students of any race, color, national, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national, and ethnic origin in administration of our educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Select "Lower School" or "Middle & Upper School" to begin the application process:

 

Lower School

Applying to Kindergarten through 2nd grade (traditional grade levels)

Students must be 5 years old by September 1 of the year of entry to be eligible to attend KLS.

Step 1. Parents create a Ravenna account and add Khan Lab School as a school they are exploring to their profile. To explore Khan Lab School, please search for us on the school directory function of the family profile.

Step 2. Parents sign up for a school informational visit on Ravenna. School informational visits include a Parent Tour or Admissions Open House.

Step 3. Parents fill out an application via Ravenna. Applications include noting student information as well as completing parent short answer questions.

Step 4. Parents pay and submit their application.

The application deadline for the 2018-19 school year has passed (January 12). We have limited availability in select levels, so please reach out to admissions@khanlabschool.org if you are interested.

Additional Materials Needed For Admission:

Step 5. Parents invite a teacher to complete the Teacher Evaluation form. A link to the Teacher Evaluation form is sent to the teacher directly through Ravenna. The teacher then completes the form.

Step 6. Send the Transcript Release and Confidentiality Form (on Ravenna) to your child's current school. Kindergarten applicants shall submit preschool reports, if available. Your school shall submit transcripts via Ravenna. We require a current school year transcript and a transcript from the prior year.

Step 7. Apply for need-based financial aid using the Khan Lab School page on Ravenna (if applicable).

All additional materials are due by February 1, 2018.

Final Steps:

Step 8. If invited to a Shadow Day, parents sign up using the secure link in Ravenna application. Have your child visit campus on your chosen date.

Step 9. Finalists are invited to sign up for an interview with the Head of Lower School.

 

Applying to 3rd through 5th grade (traditional grade levels)

Step 1. Parents create a Ravenna account and add Khan Lab School as a school they are exploring to their profile. To explore Khan Lab School, please search for us on the school directory function of the family profile.

Step 2.  Parents sign up for a school informational visit on Ravenna. School informational visits include a Parent Tour or Admissions Open House.

Step 3. Parents fill out an application. The application includes student information as well as short answer responses from parents.

Step 4. Parents pay the application fee and submit the application.

The application deadline for the 2018-19 school year has passed (January 12). We have limited availability in select levels, so please reach out to admissions@khanlabschool.org if you are interested.

Additional Materials Needed For Admission:

Step 5. Student completes and submits student questions.

Step 6. Parents or student invites two current or recent teachers to complete the Teacher Evaluation form. A link to the Teacher Evaluation forms is sent to those completing recommendations through Ravenna.

Step 7. Parents send Transcript Release and Confidentiality Form (on Ravenna) to current school to confirm release of records. The school submits transcripts from the current year and prior school years through Ravenna.

Step 8. Parents apply for need-based financial aid using the Khan Lab School page on Ravenna (if applicable).

All additional materials are due by February 1, 2018.

Final Steps:

Step 9. If invited to a Shadow Day, parents sign up using the secure link in Ravenna application. Parents have child visit campus on selected Shadow Day date.

Step 10. Finalists are invited to sign up for an interview with the Head of Lower School.

Middle School & Upper School

Applying to 6th through 10th grade (traditional grade levels)

Step 1. Parents create a Ravenna account and add Khan Lab School as a school they are exploring to their profile. To explore Khan Lab School, please search for us on the school directory function of the family profile.

Step 2. Parents sign up for a school informational visit on Ravenna. School informational visits include a Parent Tour or Admissions Open House.

Step 3. Parents fill out an application via Ravenna. Applications include noting student information as well as completing a parent short answer questions.

Step 4. Parents pay the application fee and submit the application.

The application deadline for the 2018-19 school year has passed (January 12). We have limited availability in select levels, so please reach out to admissions@khanlabschool.org if you are interested.

Additional Materials Needed For Admission:

Step 5. Student completes and submits student questions.

Step 6. Parents or student invites two current or recent teachers, a principal or someone else who knows the child well (e.g. a school counselor, administrator or coach) to complete the Principal Evaluation form. A link to the Teacher Evaluation form or Principal Evaluation form is sent to the teacher or administrator through Ravenna.

Step 7. Parents apply for need-based financial aid using the Khan Lab School page on Ravenna (if applicable).

Step 8. Parents send Transcript Release and Confidentiality Form (on Ravenna) to current school to confirm release of records. The school submits transcripts from the current school year and prior school years through Ravenna.

Step 9. Student takes the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or SSAT and submits the results through Ravenna Khan Lab School’s ISEE code is 571065. Information about taking the ISEE can be found here. Information about taking the SSAT can be found here.

All additional materials and standardized test scores are due by February 1, 2018.

Final Steps:

Step 10. If invited to a Shadow Day, parents sign up using the secure link in their Ravenna application. Student visits campus on selected Shadow Day date.

Step 11. Finalists for admission to Middle & Upper School (grades 6 & up) and their parents are invited to an interview with the Head of Middle & Upper School and/or the Admissions Manager.
