To begin your application, you will need to visit Ravenna and create an account:

Admission & Financial Aid Deadline: Friday, January 17, 2020

Please see below for a step-by-step guide to the KLS application process. For priority admission consideration, applicants to all grades must complete the following required components by the deadline. We will review late applications if space is available.

Step 1. Create a Ravenna account

Step 2. Preliminary Application: The application fee is $100

Step 3. Visit Campus: Attend a Parent Tour or Open House

Step 4. Academic Records: Submit official academic records from the 2018-19 school year, and any in-progress records from the 2019-20 school year

Step 5. Student: Sign up for a Shadow Day

Step 6. Parents: Sign up for a Virtual Parent Interview 

Step 7. Additional Components: See below for grade-specific requirements

Step 8 (Optional). Financial Aid Application: Submit application by the priority deadline. Learn more on our Tuition & Financial Aid page.

 


Additional, grade-specific application requirements are below. These components are also due by Friday, January 17, 2020:

 

Lower School (currently in grades Pre-K – Kindergarten)

Currently in grades Pre-K Kindergarten: 

Step 9. Teacher Evaluation: One Teacher Evaluation is required. Applicants may submit a second optional Teacher Evaluation

Note: Students must be 5 years old by September 1 (of the year of entry) to be eligible to attend KLS. Students who will turn 5 between September 1 and November 15 are welcome to apply, but will need to do a school readiness assessment as part of their application to KLS.

Lower School (currently in grades 1 – 4)

Currently in grades 1 – 4:

Step 9. Teacher Evaluation: One Teacher Evaluation is required. Applicants may submit a second optional Teacher Evaluation

Step 10. Student Questions: Applicants must answer 3 short essay questions (submitted through Ravenna)

Upper School (currently in grades 5 – 10)

Currently in grades 5 – 10:

Step 9. Teacher Evaluations: Two Teacher Evaluation submitted through Ravenna are required: one from a Math/Science teacher, and one from a Humanities teacher. Applicants may submit a third optional Teacher Evaluation

Step 10. Counselor or Principal Evaluation: One Counselor or Principal Evaluation submitted through Ravenna is required

Step 11. Student Questions: Applicants must answer 5 short essay questions (submitted through Ravenna)

Step 12. Official standardized test scores: Scores must be from one of the following tests, taken between January 2019 and January 2020:

  • Middle ISEE, Upper ISEE, Middle SSAT, or Upper SSAT​

Step 12. Official standardized test scores: Scores must be from one of the following grade-specific tests, taken between January 2019 and January 2020:

  • Currently in grade 5: Lower ISEE or Middle SSAT​
  • Currently in grade 6 or 7: Middle ISEE or Middle SSAT​
  • Currently in grade 8, 9, or 10: Upper ISEE or Upper SSAT

Step 13. Character Skills Snapshot: Optional, but highly encouraged (sign up through SSAT)
